"Reading--Making New Words"

This is a great way for children to use phonetic skills in making new words.    There are 26 worksheet pages and a book cover (shown above.)  Each letter of the alphabet has a separate worksheet--see below.

The book can be used in several different ways:

1. The book can be copied and bound into a book for children.

2.  It can be copied and used for independent, weekly activities.

3.  You can also use the pages separately for homework assignments.

4.  Pages can be copied on cardstock and laminated to use as a center game with a dry, erase marker.  The letters can be cut out and put in a zip lock baggie for students to use.

This is a sample page that shows the format of each page.  The letters at the bottom of the page can be cut out and manipulated by each student to make new words.  Each letter is in a box, but the lines for the boxes did not show up on this sample.  However, they are clear for students to be able to cut out.  Letters such as the d and the p are underlined to make it easier for students to identify the letters after the letters are cut out.   If you choose to have the students make more than six words, there is plenty of room provided on each page.

An answer sheet is also provided for each page to make it easier for you to think of words!
