The Legend of the Lion and the Lamb

There is an old legend of the lion and the lamb.  If the weather comes in on March 1st like a lion, then it is said to go out like a lamb.  Or, if it comes in like a lamb, then it will go out like a lion!

Patterns and directions are given in PDF files to make this hanging back-to-back lion and lamb project.

Our Favorite Dr. Seuss Books Writing

For "Read Across America" we read lots of Dr. Seuss books.  Children always have their favorites and this is a great way to fit writing into the curriculum.  There is a story writing blank paper with a matching book cover to go with the stories to add to your classroom library.  I like to laminate the book cover to use for several years!  There is also a parent letter that you can send home asking children to bring in Dr. Seuss materials such as books, games, videos, etc.

Children match the number to the number word with this fun activity for "One Fish, Two Fish.  Great for reading and math!

Green Food Day!

We also celebrate the day with a green snack.  I have provided a parent letter asking for contributions.  It's amazing the variety of green foods the children bring.  It's fun to see all of the GREEN!!  I send the letter home with the children a week or so before St. Patrick's Day.

Plan a fun day with a leprechaun visiting your classroom!  Lots of fun ideas, tips and activities to make St. Patrick's Day memorable for all.

BINGO!!!

Bingo is a great game to play for teaching many different skills.  I have included two different Bingo games in the March Ideas package.

1.  Math Bingo for recognizing and reading numbers from 7-30.  I have always found that children have difficulty recognizing the "teen" numbers.  This provides extra practice in a fun way!

2.  High Frequency Word Bingo for recognizing the 24 most frequently used words.  I have used The Dolch Word list for this Bingo game.  However, there is a blank grid provided for you to be able to make your own list of words if your district does not use the Dolch Word list.

3.   There are other ideas given for playing Bingo to reinforce other Kindergarten skills --- included on most of the list of standards required for Kindergarten!
