This is a collection of ideas that can be used as
homework activities or as individual skill practice in the
classroom. There are ideas for helping you set up a
Homework Plan that can be used for each week throughout the
school year.
There are four weekly
packages and a Valentine home project for a total of more
than 30 printable pages included in the February Homework
Ideas package.

"Start with a Heart" is a
great home project to celebrate Valentine's Day with fun
hearts that are easily displayed. All of the patterns
and directions are provided in an easy to print format.
There is even a banner to help in decorating a bulletin
board!

February Homework
Week 1

The first week's homework
package includes the following:
1. Cover sheet to
explain assignments to parents. This also offers
helpful hints and ideas on ways to assist their child with
homework. The
cover sheet is formatted for you to be able to edit to suit
your needs.
2. Handwriting
practice for the capital and lower-case letter S.
3. On a Roll Game is a
fun activity to practice the 25 most frequently used words. This game
is a fun way for students to master the Dolch list sight
words.
4. This is a letter
that you may choose to use. It gives parents some fun,
helpful ideas to assist their child in mastering the sight words.
These are ideas that would work for any list of sight
words.
5. A fun worksheet to
help students hear the ending sounds: d. t. p and k.
6. Heart Dot-to-dot
for students to practice counting by 5s to 50.
7. Worksheet to practice number sequence.
There are also helpful hints for parents to help their
student at home with counting.

Week 2 Homework

This week's homework package
includes the following:
1. Cover sheet to
explain assignments to parents. This also offers
helpful hints on ways to assist their child. The
cover sheet is formatted for you to be able to edit to suit
your needs.
2. Ending Sounds
worksheet for the following sounds: t, m, s ,
and r.
3. A blank story
writing page with dotted lines for students
to write why they think they
are "special." There is also a book cover provided
to make a class book--"We Are All Special."
(sample shown on right.)
4. A practice
worksheet for students to learn their phone number.
(see sample below)
5. Bar Graph for
Valentine's Day. This is a worksheet for students to
count and record data with Valentine candies.

Week 3 Homework

This week's homework package
includes the following:
1. Cover sheet to
explain assignments to parents. This also offers
helpful hints on ways to assist their child. The
cover sheet is formatted for you to be able to edit to suit
your needs. There is also a copy that you can edit if
you would like to add or delete to customize your homework
package.
2. Consonant Blends
Children match the consonant blends: br, pr, cr, tr
and fr to the correct pictures.
3. Abe Lincoln Book
This is a mini-book (two pages) that children illustrate
and staple together to make an eight page booklet.
The text is very easy, emergent level for students to be
able to read on their own.
4. Math--Subtraction
Children are given pictures to "take away" the objects.
5. Number Robot is a
cute, little robot that children use to count from 1-100.
A number strip is threaded through the robot to practice
counting and identifying numbers. FUN!

Week 4 Homework

For
the last week in February the homework package includes:
1. Cover sheet to
explain assignments to parents. This also offers
helpful hints on ways to assist their child. The
cover sheet is formatted for you to be able to edit to suit
your needs. There is also a copy that you can edit if
you would like to add or delete to customize your homework
package.
2. Fill in the blanks
using pictures to write short, phonetic words. The
words are all consonant-vowel-consonant words that make it
very easy for students to "sound out" the words.
3. Worksheet for
matching capitals and lower-case letters to spell
"Washington." This is also an opportunity to fit
social studies in with language arts!
4. Dot to Dot combines
math skills and social studies skills to find a silhouette
of Washington.
5. Half to Whole is a
lesson on fractions as well as symmetry. Students
look at a picture that is split in the middle to finish
the other half.

resolution and sometimes distorted but the PDFs that you will receive will print
clearly.

Package includes four weeks of homework and a special Heart
Home Project for a total of more than 30 pages.
Each of the weekly packets have at least five activities.
These pages can be used for homework or in the classroom
